MAPS & DIRECTIONS
The Museum is located downtown Valparaiso, IN on the southeast corner of Franklin and Indiana on the courthouse square. Click here for more information.
The Porter County Museum does not have a parking lot, although there are several free city lots nearby. It is best to park in the lot at the southwest corner of Franklin and Monroe Streets by the American Legion. There is also a lot at the southeast corner of Indiana Avenue and Michigan Street that has ample parking.
Pay close attention to signage, as street parking is designated with two and three hour time limits. If you exceed the time limit, you will likely be fined. At times, the downtown is host to a variety of other entertainment and special events, which can affect traffic and parking.
Unfortunately, our current historic, facility is not ADA compliant. There are steps up to the front door, and the restroom is located on the second floor. This is part of the reason the Porter County Museum is expanding. The new Museum building (located inside the renovated police station on the south side of the Courthouse Square) will be wheelchair accessible when it opens. If you have questions about the accessibility of the PoCo Muse, please don’t hesitate to call 219.465.3595. We will do everything possible to accommodate our guests.
The Museum Store is located in the former kitchen of the Sheriff’s residence inside the Museum. Exhibit and museum related merchandise and gifts are available by cash, check and credit.
