The Porter County Museum is located at 153 Franklin Street, in the heart of the historic county seat in downtown Valparaiso.
From Route 49
From Indiana 49, exit at Route 2. Follow LaPorte Avenue/ Route 2 west to the round- about and continue onto Lincolnway. Turn left onto Michigan Street and right onto Indiana Avenue. The Museum is located at the corner of Indiana Avenue and Franklin Street.
From Route 30
From Route 30, turn onto Washington Street headed north. Follow Washington Street over the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks and make a right onto Monroe Street. Turn left onto Franklin Street and continue north. The Museum is located at the corner of Indiana Avenue and Franklin Street.
The Porter County Museum does not have a parking lot, although there are several free city lots nearby. It is best to park in the lot at the southwest corner of Franklin and Monroe Streets by the American Legion. There is also a parking lot at the southeast corner of Indiana Avenue and Michigan Street that has ample parking.
Pay close attention to signage, as street parking is designated with two and three hour time limits. If you exceed the time limit, you will likely be fined. At times, the downtown is host to a variety of other entertainment and special events, which can affect traffic and parking.
